ACTUALLY ITS LAURE
ABOUT
Born in France, now actively creating and living in St Leonards, Laure is producing pieces in her garden, using the weather to help create the work. Being a jaded St Martins drop out led to a career away from the arts into her mid thirties. A length of time floating around the arts scene in south London until a life change had to happen, and a relocation to Hastings in 2022 ensued. Laure began to create again and allowed herself the space to become what she had always dreamed...an artist.
Current work is an experiment with time, weather and emotions to bookmark moments in life that are not often remembered or shown on social media.
The mundane, the sad, the anxious have all been key in creating these large scale works which, at completion, have a strong and powerful parallel to them, reinforcing our understanding that all things pass given time.
Keeping the key mediums as Parker Quink ink and watercolour paper has enabled me to keep the focus on the emotion of the piece rather than to question how to present it. Having found a comfortable space in the large works, the projects have continued to expand and grow.
The sizable paper has offered a more comfortable space for the ink and weather to merge. Each piece is born in the artists back garden through storms, snow and frost, all affecting the ink and paper in different ways to create a set of truly unique works.
